Decorative Side Rails Make Better Guest Beds

Side rails are only visible if the comforter is tucked under the mattress. Every bed needs a side rail to support the headboard, footboard and mattress. A lot of wood beds have simple wood side rails with matching finish. That doesn’t really add a lot of cost over a metal side rail. Before you buy a bed with lots of decorative craftsmanship in the siderail, ask yourself if you are really going to tuck the comforter under the mattress everyday. Something to think about so you don’t invest in wrought iron or wood craftsmanship that will be covered up by bedding.

I totally agree…we have a bed in our guest room that looks great with the comforter tucked in, but I wouldn’t want to have to deal with tucking it in every day…it’s a bit of a workout!!
